They haven’t really changed all that much in the over 100 years since this lady’s bike drawing appeared in a 1911 encyclopedia. This model shows a gear-case and dress-guard. In fact, I had a bicycle that looked a great deal like this one when I was a kid.
I’m not sure how much there is to say about this black and white illustration other than it’s a great, timeless drawing that could have been drawn any time in the past century.
