This letter A design is one of a group of 19 letter images that I found in a book about Japanese fairy tales from 1887.
All of these drop caps are about twice as tall as they are wide and feature a dark, outlined letter on top of flowers and leaves. The greenery is different on each letter. The letter A appears to be all leaves, except for a single flower at the bottom. I suspect you could easily colorize this letter imageĀ and turn it into something uniquely your own.
The other letter designs in this group are: C, D, E, F, G, I, K, L, M, O, P, Q, S, T, V, W and Y.
