This letter E design is the 20th fancy letter E image I’ve shared with you on Reusable Art. It dates back to at least 1887. It was used to decorate a book about Japanese fairy tales. The book contained 18 different letters. I suspect they are all from the same print foundry and artist. I found several of the missing letters in another book from 1882.
All of the letter images feature a black and white letter I and have leaves and flowers decorating them. 20 of them measure approximately 150px x 280px and could easily be used together to create your own special work.
The other letters in this vintage collection include: A, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, S, T, V, W and Y.
