Bold, dramatic and terrifically vintage is this letter F design from 1887. We know it is at least that old because that was when it was included in a book of fairy tales from Japan. The publishers used 18 letters of the alphabet to decorate the beginning of the chapters of the book. Aren’t we lucky! It’s rare to find so many letters in the same condition from one of these print foundry sets.
All of the letter images include a black letter with an outline of white and black. The letters are then adorned with leaves and flowers. A few also have a hidden extra but this letter F design isn’t one of them. They have been all resized to 1.5 inches wide and they are all around 2.8 inches tall. They would work well used alone or in groups for a special project.
Here are the available letters – A, C, D, E, F, G, I, K, L, M, O, P, Q, S, T, V, W and Y.
