Don’t you just love this little message angel? I found it in a book from 1881 – Contes de Restif de la Bretonne. It has been so much fun going through it. It’s getting harder and harder to find chapter heading page spacers that I haven’t already included on Reusable Art. Many were designed by print foundries and used by book publishers hundreds of times. I haven’t worked with many French books so this one has turned into a special treat.
There are so many different ways you could use this message angel. The angel has a lit torch in one hand and a banner in the other. The banner has room for a few letters. I could see it working for Valentine’s Day, Christmas or any special occasion. The angel appears to riding a garland of flowers – a bit witch/Halloween-esque but somehow it all works to create a very vintage looking piece that could be used in greeting cards, scrapbook pages, mixed media art and just about anywhere you need a great angel image.
