The image could also be edited to allow a bigger or smaller space for lettering too. It seems to have a somewhat regal or royal motif that relies upon delicate doodle-like shapes to create the overall theme.
Thomas E. Hill made quite an ambitious work when he wrote Hill’s Album of Biography and Art in 1882. He did not indicate whether the artwork is from his own hand, another artist or primarily from print foundries.
