Vintage drawing of a young mother introducing her baby to a gaggle of geese. The baby looks ready to jump out of her mother’s arms to play with the geese but her mother retains a firm grip on the eager child. The mother holds a stick to lead the geese in front of her but one of the saucy birds looks as if it is ready to use its wing to smack away the stick. In the background we can see their farm house and an outbuilding and some trees.
The title might be 1890 Baby’s Annual Pictures and Stories for Little People but the copyright for this vintage children’s book is actually 1889. Not that it truly matters as it is now over 120 years later and D. Lothrop Company did not attribute this book to either an author or an illustrator. Which means, all of the wonderful illustrations it contained are now in the public domain.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
