I hope I don’t have this one wrong but that looks like a vintage instrument, perhaps a sort of lyre, laying in the foreground of this public domain image. I’ve put it here with the other music images, so hopefully, I’m right. Along with the instrument, there is a vase of ferns and a tiny dragonfly checking out a flower that’s also in the vase. Whatever it is that is in the foreground of this vintage image, the whole vignette makes for a lovely little image that you could use on your next creative project.
Thomas E. Hill published Hill’s Album of Biography and Art in 1882. It included a number of wonderful illustrations and stock print foundry images.
