This Nativity painting dates back to 1520, so it’s no wonder it’s a bit faded. It was painted by Hans Holbein the Younger (1497 or 1498 – 1543). Holbein was a 2nd generation, German artist who painted in a Northern Renaissance style.
It has hints of color with bits of yellow watercolor among the gray wash and black brush strokes. It would make a great Christmas card or other Christmas-related project where you would need a picture of the Holy Birth with Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
