I love finding wonderful hand-colored book plates but when they’re flowers, they just seem a little bit more special. This purple flower book plate was identified as being a drawing of an orchid. I’m not sure if the colorist chose the color on their own or the book’s author suggested it, but either way, I think it came out beautiful.
In this purple orchid plant drawing, we have the entire plant frrchidm roots to flower tips. I’m sure there’s someone that will find a great use for this public domain flower image.
This is one of a number of plant images which appeared in the 1858 publication Lessons From the Vegetable World.
