What a sweet children’s book illustration of a pet pony eating some hay. Frederick Warne & Son published this and several other charming animal illustrations inĀ Holidays at the Farm which was published in the early 1900s.
A pretty chestnut colored pet pony with a short black mane stands along a path eating a bunch of hay. We’ve caught him mid-chew and he has a bit of hay dangling from his mouth. A pair of doves sit among the thatch on his enclosure – one seemingly standing watch and the other taking a bit of a nap.
The illustration you see here is smaller than the actual drawing.
