A book about the Templar Knights from 1840 included a number of artistic page spaces and vignettes. This bird vignette was particularly striking. I love the little bug the pheasant appears to be chasing.
This black and white pheasant vignette features a large bird somewhat framed in a leafy curl of a flourish. The bird appears to be flying straight up in pursuit of the bug.
I think this public domain pheasant vignette would look even better if turned on its side. Maybe even use a pair of them to frame another image.
As I write this, there’s only one other pheasant image here on Reusable Art. You can find it here – colored pheasant drawing. Unfortunately, that drawing doesn’t really do these beautiful birds justice. They are a fairly large ground bird that often has iridescent feathers and are quite striking when spotted in the wild or while visiting a zoo or aviary.
I hope you enjoy this fellow and can add a bit a drama and flair to your next project with him.
