Vintage botanical bookplate print of a primrose flower. It seems hard to believe that both the book and this print have survived over 150 years. It is one of those wonderful hand-painted plates that were done in watercolor by unrecognized artists.
This flower image is of a yellow flower, the primrose, with a large green leaf. I could see this print being used as it was originally designed or using the leaf in isolation or one or more of the flowers alone or in a slightly different way than currently presented.
Lessons From the Vegetable World included a number of flower illustrations. They were published in 1858 and now illustrator or watercolorist was credited for the work.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
