This distressed vintage image of animals is of a stables in a barn. A cow and a pony stand quietly in their stalls. A black bird has come to visit and sits above their heads in a window frame. It’s as if the trio of animals are having a conversation. What could they be talking about? Are they happy with their home or do they wish to be free to run across the farmer’s fields?
Carll B. Williams (d.1928) would most likely be shocked that his work from 1907 is still being discussed all these years later. It is one of a number of charming illustrations from Billy Whisker’s Travels which can be found on Reusable Art.
