I grabbed this vintage steamer trunk from a larger image. I though the end-on perspective and incomplete nature of the drawing made it more interesting.
With leather handles and straps, this trunk has a bit of character the newer trunks just don’t have anymore. There’s a shipping label on the top but unfortunately it’s too small to really use. Perhaps you could add one of your own or leave the trunk’s destination a mystery.
Carll B. Williams (d.1928) would most likely be shocked that his work from 1907 is still being discussed all these years later. It is one of a number of charming illustrations from Billy Whisker’s Travels which can be found on Reusable Art.
