Vintage black and white drawing of the first ocean-going steam ship, the Savannah. This was one the first ocean-worthy steam ship to ply the seas and was built in 1819. The steam engine turned the paddle wheel on the side of the ship. It’s in the public domain and can be downloaded and used how you wish.
This is another wonderful drawing from the children’s magazine Harper’s Young People. It was included in the February 3, 1880 edition.
