Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do; a bicycle built for two. The famous Raleigh tandem bike is shown here in this vintage tandem bike illustration. It was designed to be ridden by two ladies and built stronger for the added weight of a second rider. The steering and braking are done by the front rider though some tandem bikes have rear steering as well. Not entirely sure how it would work if each rider could steer independently though.
I’ve never ridden on a bicycled like this one but I would think it would be fun. I guess the biggest thing was putting your fate in the hands of the other rider. If one loses their balance, you both go down.
This great tandem bike illustration is from a 1911 encyclopedia and is in the public domain.
