One of my favorite southern trees is the tulip tree. Pictured here with a red bud, yellow flower and leaf, this drawing on a black background is quite pretty but not near as lovely as these trees are in real life. This tulip tree image is copyright free and may be used freely.
This tree drawing was created by Mark Catesby (1683-1749). Do you think he ever thought that almost 300 years after his death that we would still be enjoying his work. It was included in the 1767 book A Collection of 85 Curious Trees and Shrubs, the Produce of North America.
