I wish this vintage letter U with vines was in a bit better shape but the somewhat grungy look of this letter might just add to its charm. Or, we could simply say it’s showing its age a bit. This drop cap letter U was used in a book of poetry from 1878 entitled Ballads of Beauty. Even in its current state, you could say that this U image is a bit of a beauty.
The letter itself is dark with the left side being thicker than the right. Vines and curling tendrils cover the letter and even provide the illusion of the letter being carved. Overall, it’s a fairly nice letter image. I’ve been running Reusable Art for a number of years now and I can say with some authority that there’s not many vintage letter U images to be found. I’ve only come across 8 that were not included in a complete set. Hopefully, this one or one of the other seven will meet your needs.
