If you were looking to buy a new violin in 1887, you might have considered the C.W. Story company in Boston. They offered violin outfits for $4, $8, $15 and $25. Their illustrated 96-page catalog also offered guitars, banjos, cornets, flutes and other instruments. The violin outfits came with the violin box, bow and teacher.
I tried to look up the C.W. Story company and it seems they were active for only a few years near the end of the 19th century. Not sure how much there is to say about this violin drawing other than it is a black and white advertising image with a fully stringed instrument.
