This is another in our series of vintage letter images that appeared in a number of books that were supplied by one of the various print foundries of the time. Did you know that many publishers used not only the same drop cap images but often the same illustrations as well? We can date this fancy letter image to at least as far back as 1889, when it was included in Flowers of the Hunt.
This letter W image has appeared in several works used to compile the collection on Reusable Art. This version has a beige background and is larger that the other Fancy W Image that we already have. The other one is quite a bit smaller and on a white background.
Both of these drop cap letter images include a light-colored letter W on a dark background with a pair of flowers and flower buds and vines.
This image is copyright free and in the public domain anywhere that extends copyrights 70 years after death or at least 120 years after publication when the original illustrator is unknown.
