Not sure how much there is to say about a vintage drawing of three wax beans. It’s a nice size drawing from the 1890 Peter Henderson & Co. Tested Seeds catalog. This ‘giant among beans’ was called the Yosemite Mammoth Wax Bush Bean and it was featured in their buy an entire garden at once sort of roundup and this vegetables drawing.
This was a new variety of wax beans that was said to grow pods 10-14 inches long that were as thick as a man’s finger with very small seeds. It’s a shame this wax beans drawing wasn’t colorized to show the lovely rich golden color of these beans.
