Our intrepid white cat is off to see the world and encounters a friendly looking dog. This drawing from our set of 6 in a series of cat illustrations, has our white cat hanging on the top of a wrought iron fence and looking fierce as it faces off with the dog. In the background a street urchin is sweeping the sidewalk and a horse-drawn carriage or fire engine drives by. This vintage colored cat drawing is in the public domain and free to be used alone or in combination with the other cat illustrations of this set.
This circa 1865 illustration is sadly not attributed to any artist. Aunt Louisa’s Birthday Gift, written by Laura Valentine (d.1899) and published by Scribner, Welford and Co.; included many animal images that I have shared with you on Reusable Art.
