Part of an illustrated alphabet which used species of birds to illustrate each letter of the alphabet. Since there is no bird species that begins with the letter Z, the illustrator got a bit creative and used the letter Z to represent a bird’s roost. Lucky for us that he or she did as we now have this wonderful image of the letter Z surrounded by a variety of birds.
Copyright free in the United States and with a published date of 1851, most likely everywhere else as well; this image would make a great addition to your next scrapbooking or other craft project. The Illustrated Alphabet of Birds did not include the name of the author or illustrator.
